How Do Herbalists Make Money?

Twice in the last week, with eyes squinted and heads confusedly cocked to the side, I was asked if we actually make living wage being herbalists and having a wellness company. I ain’t even mad, it’s a fair question. People working as herbalists is not new and while it seems to be getting a little trendy now, it’s still an uncommon profession.

There aren’t exactly hundreds of “herbalist” jobs on Indeed, LinkedIn, or Monster for which we can apply. The work is deeply meaningful and rewarding, but let’s be honest, satisfaction without financial stability is stressful.

There are structural challenges herbalists face in trying to build sustainable careers. In this video, I give context for those obstacles and share the most common paths I’ve seen herbalists take to build their careers, pay their bills, and financially thrive. The “broke healer” archetype is dead.

We hope you enjoy the short video. If this is your path, know that you can do what you love and support yourself.

With joy,
Selima and Tami
