Pooping Less Than Once Per Day? You're Constipated
A critical part of moving your bowels is moving your emotions. I see constipation the most in people who haven’t learned or don’t feel safe letting go. Sometimes it’s letting go of old hurts and traumas (stop taking score Scorpios!) and in other times people aren’t releasing their gifts out into the world (I’m looking at you Virgos who are waiting for everything to be perfect). In either scenario, the energy is backed up, so the body is too.

Constipation is medically defined as experiencing difficult or incomplete evacuation of bowel and/or having fewer than 3 bowel movements per week. I think we can all agree though, that not passing at least one bowel movement per day is less than ideal. Toxins from backed-up fecal matter reabsorb into your bloodstream. You eat more than once a day, you’re gonna want that to come out the other end at least once a day too.

Chronic constipation leads to skin eruptions (the toxins have to come out somehow), hemorrhoids, back pain, anal fissures, rectal bleeding, bladder dysfunction, pain, headaches, diverticulitis, IBS, fatigue, gas, insomnia, bad breath, body odor, and more as well as serious diseases such as cancer.

You need herbs that are antimicrobial, detoxifying, and liver supportive to reduce bacterial replication, clean the blood, and increase bile production (choleretics and cholagogues help with this). Bile is your body’s natural laxative. Anti-inflammatories will help because impacted stool is likely damaging the colon due to friction. Nervine relaxants and spasmolytics will help ease pain, cramping, and tension.

Bulking herbs increase stool bulk. Stimulant laxatives like cascara sagrada and senna, while they stimulate peristalsis to force movement, they can damage the intestinal wall and therefore should not be used often or regularly. Your body can become just as dependent on these as it does on over-the-counter laxatives.

Our TeaTox Blend was developed for this very reason and can help. Buy your bag here!
